We’re looking for a product-minded full-stack engineer with a strong backend focus to join our founding team. You’ll help architect and ship the core platform that enables fashion retailers across Africa to participate in the fast-growing re-commerce market.

Experience: 3+ years building and operating production software.

Level: Mid-level builder who wants ownership and a path to tech-lead.

What you’ll focus on:

Platform & backend engineering

Design, build, and own core backend services and APIs (Node.js / Python).

Build scalable data infrastructure (ETL/ELT), data models, and pipelines for large-scale AI workflows.

Lead platform integrations (ecommerce, payments, logistics, partner systems) and shape reliable process flows.

Ensure security and privacy by default: authentication, encryption, secure coding practices, and baseline compliance.

Product Delivery:

Partner closely with the CEO to translate vision into a clear, high-velocity product roadmap.

Ship quickly, iterate with intent, and keep the platform aligned with global standards.

Make smart trade-offs between speed, quality, and scalability.

Reliability & Performance:

Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and dashboards to keep our platform healthy.

Define and uphold SLOs/SLA-level reliability as we scale.

Team & Craft:

Solve complex problems independently; communicate clearly and timeously.

Contribute to internal tooling, libraries, and templates that accelerate future engineering hires.

Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and agile rituals.

Must-have:

Strong backend engineering experience building and operating production systems.

Proven ability to own projects end-to-end in a growing organisation.

Solid understanding of data modelling and databases (SQL/NoSQL), migrations, and performance tuning.

Practical experience using AI/LLMs in your workflow (e.g., prototyping, evaluation, automation, or building AI-powered features).

Comfortable in a small, dynamic team; able to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders.

Bias for action: you ship, learn, and ship again.

Nice-to-have:

Early-stage startup experience or similar high-autonomy environments.

Hands-on GCP/AWS experience (BigQuery a plus).

Frontend experience with React + TypeScript (or willingness to go deep when needed).

Experience with e-commerce, payments, or other transactional systems.

Why Work at Muna?

Muna is a category-defining technology platform enabling fashion retailers to participate in Africa’s re-commerce economy. We’re on a mission to build circularity into every retail business on the continent and we’re doing it as challengers, not followers.

No fluff. Your impact is measurable and visible in real time.

Ownership where it matters. As a foundational hire, you’ll shape both product and culture, with room to grow into tech-lead.

Community of builders. Work alongside a network across retail, technology, and VC ecosystems.

Joy is part of the work. We celebrate progress and embrace the process, not just outcomes.

Competitive remuneration. We invest in our people with strong benefits and meaningful upside.

Our culture

We’re rooted in sustainability, excellence, curiosity, bravery, community, and joy. We live these through intentional rituals: rigorous preparation, transparency, continuous learning, deep client connection, and shared celebration.
