luke@continuum.acContinuum is building the operating system for behavioural health practitioners — turning every therapy and coaching session into a structured, AI-powered action plan that supports clients between sessions and feeds longitudinal data back to the practitioner in real time. The problem is urgent. 35.3% of clients drop out of therapy early, costing full-time practitioners over £5,000 a year in lost revenue. The root cause isn’t the therapy — it’s the black box between sessions. Continuum fixes that. We have early traction: 35 interested practitioners, inbound interest from enterprise clinics including Portobello Behavioural Health and The Soke, a working prototype, and a 2,800-strong practitioner newsletter ready to activate on launch. We’re raising £500k pre-seed at a £2M valuation (S/EIS Advanced Assurance Approved). This isn’t a CTO-for-hire position. We’re looking for a co-founder who believes in the mission, wants to own the technical vision entirely, and is prepared to get their hands dirty building it. The Role You will be the first and defining technical voice at Continuum. In the early months, that means you’re coding — there is no team yet. You’ll architect the platform, make the foundational technology decisions, and ship the product that converts our waitlist into paying practitioners. As we grow, you’ll hire and lead the engineering function. What you’ll own: – End-to-end product architecture — from the practitioner dashboard and AI plan generation to client-facing mobile experience and data infrastructure. – All AI and LLM integration — prompt engineering, model selection, fine-tuning strategy, and building towards a proprietary behavioural data layer that becomes our long-term moat. – Security, compliance, and data governance — GDPR, HIPAA readiness, and the clinical-grade standards our users’ sensitive health data demands. – Technical hiring — defining the team we need, when we need them, and setting the bar for who gets in. – Engineering culture — how we build, how we ship, how we maintain quality as we scale. – Input into product strategy, fundraising narratives, and investor conversations alongside the CEO.
What You’ll Be Building The platform has three compounding technical layers: 01 · The SaaS Core Practitioner dashboard, session-to-plan AI pipeline, client mobile experience, resource library, scheduling, and messaging — all in one unified workflow. This is the immediate build priority. 02 · The Intelligence Layer A pattern recognition engine that spots behavioural signals, flags engagement drop-off, personalises between-session homework, and surfaces emerging clinical markers. Built on proprietary data generated by every session logged. 03 · The Co-Pilot Real-time in-session insights, outcome predictions, and benchmarking — always under practitioner supervision. Every session logged compounds the data advantage no competitor can replicate. Who We’re Looking For Non-negotiable: – You’ve shipped real products. Not prototypes — products with real users that had to scale. – You’re comfortable being the only engineer for the first 6–12 months. That means writing production code, not just reviewing it. – Strong backend and systems thinking — you understand what it takes to build a compliant, secure platform handling sensitive clinical data. – Direct experience integrating LLMs into production applications — you know the tradeoffs, the failure modes, and how to build responsibly. – You can hold a technical opinion and defend it, but know when to move fast over moving perfectly. – You want equity, not just a salary. This is a co-founder role — you’re betting on the outcome.
Strongly preferred: – Experience in healthtech, mental health, or other regulated data environments. – Familiarity with GDPR, HIPAA, and ICO compliance requirements — you’ve navigated them before. – Proven ability to build and scale an engineering team at early stage. – Prior startup experience at or near founding stage. – Full-stack capability with strength in cloud-native SaaS architecture, modern frontend (React or equivalent), and AI/ML tooling.
What You Won’t Find Here We won’t pretend this is without risk. We’re pre-seed. Salary is zero or near-zero in the early stage — compensated through meaningful co-founder equity. There is no existing engineering team to hand things off to. The product vision is clear, but the technical path is yours to define. If you’re looking for a well-resourced environment with clear specs and an existing team, this isn’t it. If you want to be the person who defines all of that — read on. The Mission Mental health support is broken at the structural level — not because practitioners aren’t skilled, but because nothing connects the session to the rest of the client’s life. The tools being used today are WhatsApp, Google Docs, and email. That’s the competition. We’re targeting 1.2 million practitioners across the English-speaking world, with a clear path to £35M ARR by Year 5 — and a long-term data and intelligence layer that goes well beyond SaaS. The category is proven: Practice Better raised $13M in November 2024. But no one owns the between-session layer. That’s the gap we’re filling, with AI at the core from day one.
